This is the reason I have made it my personal task to inform and educate people I meet (Nigerians and non-Nigerians alike) whenever I have the opportunity to, through whatever forum or media is available to me, that we as Nigerians need to reorient our thinking; whereby we look at Nigeria as a big picture instead of just thinking of our personal needs and gain, and therefore do what is best for our country, which inherently results in our doing what is best for ourselves on the long run.

I was almost on my way to making a legal case against my neighbour who was endangering the lives of my brother and his family, and myself until he finally realized I was extremely serious and unrelenting in my efforts to put an end to his dangerous and unreasonable violation of tenancy rights, thereby deviating from his previously stubborn and very unreasonable stance and seeing reason.

With all the advances in science, now a lot that was previously unknown about man is now available. For people of African descent though, (Africans, African-Americans, Carib-Africans or Afro-Caribs, Afro-Asians, etc.) certain genetical dispositions are more common. The sickle cell gene also occurs in southern Europeans, Arabs, Turks, Iranians, and Indians.

"I am an American Woman and have been dating a Naija man for a couple of months. He has informed me that nothing will ever come of our relationship because he wants to marry a Naija woman and move back to Africa. Why even get involved with American women if you know you want to marry Naija?" No sane person wants to go through the humiliation of finding out their so-called 'current' girl/boyfriend is set to, or actually walking down the aisle to make marriage vows to another.

It sounds charming to say that "the reason that Naija men return home to marry is because they want someone who share the same values, lifestyle as they do," but is that the whole truth? Fortunately, for those without specks in their eyes, a lot of Nigerian women with these same values and lifestyles also exist in abundance in the Diaspora. I agree that some men want women whom they believe will be as subservient as their Mothers were to their Fathers, forgetting that the world has clearly changed...
