On his Christmas and New Year message to Nigerians in 2008, President Musa Yar'Adua raised Nigerians hope to a very high level by promising to deliver in 2009 with the new team he just put together. According to him, "Our season of renewal has dawned." He promised to fix the power problem, the mess in the oil and gas sector, the educational crisis, as well as "critical reforms in our land laws, police and in our electoral system." More important though, "The Federal Government will strive even harder to fully guarantee the security and safety of Nigerians in all parts of the country." Nigerians can't wait for this to come into reality.

I love to debate with people who disagree with me most especially to get my points across to them for balance of opinion on a subject. In effect periodically we publish some of our readers' comments. I do not expect everyone to agree with me anyway, nonetheless, it has to be done with maturity and decorum. I respect people's opinion and they have the right to disagree with me, just like I have the right to respond and make my view point clearer without getting personal. I sincerely appreciate comments on my papers, especially the negative ones which strengthen and keep me going.

Ribadu could be a victim of circumstance who in all honesty did according to the dictates of his 'BOSS', with good intentions. His work was applauded by most Nigerians, especially from abroad, and by most world leaders. Through his good work, 'Nigeria' was removed from the 'Black Book' of most of Developed countries. Ribadu's situation looks like when you try spill ashes on your neighbor, most of it powders your body big time.

In as much as I have some respect for Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello as a strong woman and being a close friend of her husband, it is not right for her to conduct herself appallingly in the place of worship. In addition, no right thinking Nigerian would appreciate the way she conducts herself in the public; more important though, as a member of a Distinguished Nigeria Senate. While her action should not come to anyone as a surprise, especially to those that have worked or crossed path with her before.

Nigerians should never be swindled by the on-going, infinite, and make-belief probes being engaged by the members of the National Assembly. As mentioned in some of my previous pieces, anyone who wishes to remove the 'dirt' from other peoples' eyes should, in the first instance, remove his own.

Though I might have some reservations for whatever comes out of Orji Kalu's brain. In his latest but too elementary piece on Saturday Sun Newspaper, October 4, 2008, page 15, "A nation of Praise-singers, hagiographers", if he knows what that means anyway, I will agree with him that most praise-singers in Nigeria "come in diverse shades and very cunning and mischievous. Their target is to massage your ego and goad you into booboos designed to entrap you into their biddings." He could be speaking from the harvest of his experiences.

The issue surrounding the Health of Nigeria's President could be going beyond just mere rumor, or speculations, given all the indications surrounding his recent travel to Saudi Arabia. It was first rumored that he went on a lesser Hajji, which ought not to have lasted more than couple of hours. Thereafter it was stated again that he was there for a medical check up. Then he underwent kidney surgery.

The recently concluded Zumunta Association's annual convention in California, July 26, 2008, witnessed a history in the making. His Eminence Alhaji Mohammad Sa'adu Abubakar III, CFR, MNI the Sultan of Sokoto (Sarkin Muslim), the head of the Muslim religion in Nigeria, and His Grace, the Catholic Arch Bishop of Abuja Dr. John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan, the President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), demonstrated one of the unique events an average Nigerian would expect to happen in their life time.

It is ironic how Nigerians ceaselessly barrage Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo for his policies during his administration. He is not even spared by his supposed ethnic group, against the norm. People would be wondering, even some of his friends in the North and East, why these negative comments about him after what they believed he contributed to Nigeria lately. Incidentally the three stooges of Buhari, Babangida, and Abubakar, are on the vanguard of defending late Abacha.

If you are not too sure of yourself about the power of God in individual's life, you might want to take a look at Yinka Ayefele's life as pronounced across the United States of America. He is a God sent source of inspiration to those that have thought that their handicap is the end of the world. Even though we have had those that are physically or medically challenged all across the world especially in the United States making lemonade out of lemon.
